Four Star Freightliner Inc. has acquired the assets of Western Star of Dothan, a dealership serving the Wiregrass region.

Western Star of Dothan, a brand of Daimler Truck North America, also has operated as a Detroit diesel and Cummins engine dealer, adding depth to Four Star’s service capabilities. Employees of Western Star of Dothan’s Merrill Road location will join Four Star Freightliner’s staff at its Dothan location at 1507 Reeves Street.

With the acquisition, Four Star expands its Western Star truck sales footprint to six of its eight locations. Western Star is known for producing heavy-duty Class 8 commercial trucks, designed for industries like logging, mining and construction.

“We’re excited to bring on the team from Western Star of Dothan,” said Jerry Kocan, dealer principal of Four Star Freightliner. “They come from a family-owned and operated business, which aligns closely with our values. At Four Star, we take pride in being a family-oriented company. These are good people, and we are committed to making this transition seamless.”

Founded in 2000 with headquarters in Montgomery, Four Star Freightliner has eight locations, located in Montgomery, Dothan, Georgiana and Valley, Alabama; Tifton, Valdosta and Albany, Georgia; and Midway, Florida.
