Association of Fundraising Professionals to honor National Philanthropy Day winners

Individuals, organizations will be recognized at a luncheon in November

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Alabama Chapter will honor winners in eight categories at its National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon on Nov. 12.

AFP Alabama recognizes individuals, corporations, foundations, civic and service groups, and nonprofit organizations across the state whose efforts change the face of the community.

This year’s honorees are:

William M. and Virginia B. Spencer Outstanding Philanthropist – Frank and Marti Buck, nominated by Samford University.

United Way of Central Alabama Outstanding Civic Leader – Will Brooke Sr., nominated by the University of Alabama.

Wells Fargo Outstanding Corporate Citizen – AmFirst, nominated by United Way of Central Alabama.

Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Outstanding Professional Advisor – Leigh A. Kaylor, nominated by Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.

William S. Roth Outstanding Fundraising Executive – Katrina Watson, nominated by STAIR of Birmingham.

Outstanding Charitable Organization – Birmingham Corps, nominated by Birmingham Corps.

Bill Moran Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy – Frances Grace Hirs, nominated by Children’s of Alabama.

AFP Alabama Chapter IDEA Award –  Libby’s Friends, nominated by XVI.

Membership of AFP Alabama includes more than 140 fundraising professionals. Kari Hudson of Purpose Possible and Elizabeth Sturgeon of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra are chairs of this year’s National Philanthropy Day event, which is presented in partnership with Business Alabama.
