Truckworx, a heavy and medium duty truck dealer, is moving into its newly constructed corporate headquarters building in Birmingham. The 12,000-square-foot facility represents a $6.8 million investment and is expected to add 52 jobs.
The new headquarters is located on 24th Avenue North, directly across from the company’s flagship dealership on Finley Boulevard. It will centralize the company’s corporate team.
“When we moved into our new building in 2004, our plan was to house our largest dealership and corporate office there,” said Truckworx President and CEO Will Bruser. “Over the last 20 years, Truckworx as a whole has grown tremendously, and our corporate team outgrew the office space we had available. Knowing we would continue to grow, in 2021, we made the decision to move our corporate team to an office about 20 minutes away in Homewood, which has created some logistical challenges. We are excited for our entire team to be back together in the city of Birmingham in a new corporate headquarters right across the street from our dealership.”
The new location will house roles in accounting, IT, human resources, support services and C-suite leadership, with average wages of $67,000.
The Birmingham Business Alliance provided support to the company by facilitating meetings with the city of Birmingham and Jefferson County leadership, coordinating with the Industrial Development Board and the Birmingham Construction Industry Authority and helping with the abatement process.
“This is a win for downtown Birmingham and a testament to the confidence that homegrown companies like Truckworx have in our city’s future,” said BBA President and CEO Steve Ammons. “By choosing to build in Birmingham, Truckworx is not only expanding its footprint, but also creating high-paying jobs and deepening its roots in the region.”
Jefferson County Commissioner Mike Bolin added, “This is precisely the type of project that inspires community enthusiasm and reflects the growth that we strive to encourage. I extend my sincerest thanks to Truckworx and their employees for their continued dedication, and to both the Birmingham Business Alliance and the city of Birmingham for their invaluable support in bringing this project to fruition.”
Truckworx, a family-owned business, was founded in Birmingham in 1978 and operates 23 locations across Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida panhandle. The company features parts and service teams and is Alabama’s exclusive Kenworth dealer.
