Hyundai, Honda and Mercedes-Benz, three automakers with plants in Alabama, are among those joining a group to expand electric vehicle charging station access across North America. Birmingham community lands $50 million grant

The Birmingham community of Smithfield has been awarded a $50 million grant from the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant Program. The grant, plus $35 million from the City of Birmingham, will go toward a new housing plan that the city estimates will generate $242 million in new economic activity. –Bham Now

Gadsden City Hall moving into Regions building

Gadsden’s City Hall is moving to the former home of Regions Bank in a $2.8 million deal. The city is buying the 28,000-square-foot location on Broad Street, although Regions will lease a small portion of the space to continue some banking services.  â€“ Bama Buzz
