More than $30 million will be shared by 25 Alabama projects thanks to funds from the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 (GoMESA).

The money, which goes to four states, comes from Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas leases issued since Dec. 20, 2006. Projects focus on environmental education and outreach, sewer and stormwater infrastructure, water quality improvements and recreational access improvements.

“With this announcement, more than $210 million in GoMESA projects have been awarded during the Ivey Administration,” Gov. Kay Ivey said.

Examples of the GoMESA funding include $1.2 million for the Fairhope Flying Creek Nature Preserve, $1.5 million for the Summerdale Miracle League Ballfields, $2.7 million for the Mobile County Cedar Point Boat Ramp Phase II, $2.2 million for National Maritime Museum Improvements and $3 million for Honor Park in Spanish Fort.
