Green technology for transportation has moved well past the lightweight, low-power stages. Anniston’s New Flyer America manufacturing facility recently completed its first full build of an Xcelsior Charge zero-emission, heavy-duty transit bus powered completely by batteries.
The Xcelsior Charge bus got its U.S. introduction at the triennial American Public Transportation Association Expo last October in Atlanta. It features an Xcelsior transit bus platform with extended range batteries, solid hill climbing ability, high passenger-load capacity and the ability to recharge with interoperable equipment from multiple global suppliers. It comes in 35-, 40- and 60-foot models.
