Specializing in project accounting, contract execution, strategic planning and DCAA compliance, Mathew, a University of Alabama in Huntsville alumna, has more than 25 years of government contracting experience. Mathew quickly progressed through the ranks from accountant to vice president of finance before serving as Yorktown’s CFO in 2016. Yorktown’s exponential growth is a testament to Mathew’s skills and dedication to her work. In just six years, Yorktown went from a company with less than 90 employees to a corporation with more than 700 employees.
Over the course of her career, Mathew has developed a passion for mentoring young people. With a firm understanding of the job market and the demands of the North Alabama economy, Mathew has made a point of setting an example for those just embarking on their careers while also investing in their work ethic. “We have a lot of young hires, and we really invest in the professional development of our employees,” she explains. “Yorktown provides a quality place for hardworking young professionals to learn, grow and thrive.” In the next five years, Mathew expects Yorktown to double its revenue. “We have worked relentlessly to build a solid infrastructure with a talented, supportive team, and Yorktown is in a great position for growth,” said Mathew.
Women currently occupy more than 55% of Yorktown’s leadership roles. Being a mother of five, Mathew has mastered the art of running both a family and a 700+ person business. As president and CFO of Yorktown Systems Groups, Mathew embraces the responsibility that comes with leadership.
“Being a woman in leadership in defense gives me the opportunity to impact young people and be a good example to those around me, showing my family, my children, and their friends that working hard and always striving to do the right things pays off in the end,” said Mathew.
