WARN lists several upcoming layoffs

Several Alabama companies have filed notice on Alabama’s WARN list of impending layoffs, including the Boeing Company, which plans 71 layoffs in Huntsville starting in April. Others recently filing notice are Vanity Fair in Monroeville (a closure affecting 156 employees), Southeastern Food Merchandisers in Pelham (62 employees) and Nucor Buildings Group in Eufaula (79 employees). – Made in Alabama

2 Birmingham churches among those receiving grants

Two Birmingham churches are among 30 nationwide named as recipients of 2025 grants from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund. Bethel Baptist Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church will share in grants among the 30 churches totaling $8.5 million. – Bham Now

Spring Hill College drops six majors

Citing low enrollment and budget cuts, Mobile’s Spring Hill College is dropping six majors, affecting 24 students enrolled in those majors. The majors being dropped are chemistry, biochemistry, history, philosophy, secondary education and studio art. – News 5

Birmingham trucking company expanding in Saraland

Birmingham-based Robbie D. Wood Inc., a trucking company specializing in transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste, has broken ground on a new terminal in Saraland. The new terminal is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the Mobile area. – Fox 10
