Vineetha Menon, an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, has been named, for a third consecutive year, the outstanding young professional in region 3 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology.
Menon, who is the director of the Big Data Analytics Lab at UAH, was honored by IEEE Eta Kappa Nu as its outstanding young professional in 2021 and in 2022, she was awarded the IEEE Huntsville Young Professional of the Year.
“This award is not only a recognition for my research scholarship and a career highlight, but it also establishes UAH as a significant contributor in AI, big data analytics and autonomous systems technology,” said Menon.
She added that service to improve STEM education and mentoring young professionals has been a core component of her work at UAH. Since 2011, Menon has held global leadership roles in IEEE, IEEE-HKN and IEEE Women in Engineering.
