The Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union has filed objections to the recent union vote at Amazon’s Bessemer facility. The union says Amazon interfered with a free and fair election and that the results should be set aside. The vote tally stands at 993-875 against unionizing, with 416 contested ballots. – AL.com

 

Diversified buys Marca Life Planning

Delaware-based Diversified LLC has acquired Birmingham’s Marca Life Planning and its $1.4 billion in total assets. Staff members from Marca will join Diversified and continue to work from Alabama. – Diversified LLC

Leeds community sells for almost $19 million

The Cottages on Weaver Avenue, a newly built community of 63 homes, has sold for $18.9 million. Tower Homes and Price Hightower sold the property to Tampa-based Morrison Avenue Capital Partners.  – AL.com

 

Bronze Valley names five to new cohort

Bronze Valley Accelerator has named five startups from across the U.S. to take part in its spring 2022 program. The accelerator, a partnership of Bronze Valley and accelerator Gener8tor, focuses on supporting women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color. UT opens Huntsville research center

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Thursday cut the ribbon on the UT Space Institute Huntsville Research Center. The new center will connect federal agencies and industry leaders with UT faculty and students to work on aerospace and defense issues. – News 19
