U.S. 280 stretch to get more lanes
The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to add two lanes – one in each direction – to a 4.5-mile stretch of U.S. 280. The section of highway goes through Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills and Birmingham. Construction should begin in 2024. – Hoover Sun
Birmingham company awarded $185 million for fruit, vegetable contract
Forestwood Farm in Birmingham has been awarded a $184.6 million contract to provide fruits and vegetables to U.S. Department of Agriculture schools. The five-year contract runs through December 2028. – U.S. Department of Defense
