The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to add two lanes – one in each direction ­– to a 4.5-mile stretch of U.S. 280. The section of highway goes through Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills and Birmingham. Construction should begin in 2024. – Hoover Sun

 

Birmingham company awarded $185 million for fruit, vegetable contract

Forestwood Farm in Birmingham has been awarded a $184.6 million contract to provide fruits and vegetables to U.S. Department of Agriculture schools. The five-year contract runs through December 2028. – U.S. Department of Defense

Motiva will be title sponsor of Birmingham Bowl

Motiva, which makes the 76 brand, will be the title sponsor of the Birmingham Bowl in Protective Stadium on Dec. 23. For 50 years, 76 was the official fuel for NASCAR. – Bham Now

 

Troy has new vice chancellor
