Treii Pace honored with Boykin Medal of Excellence

University of Mobile alumnus and former basketball player Treii Pace has been presented the 2022 Samuel Boykin Medal of Excellence.

The medal was established to honor the life of the late Samuel Boykin, the first African American graduate of the University of Mobile. The award acknowledges exceptional African American graduates of the university who reflect the humility that Boykin exemplified throughout his life.

Pace graduated from the University of Mobile with a bachelor’s degree in 2011. For the past five years, the Saraland native has been teaching at Saraland Elementary and coaching middle school girls’ basketball. In 2021, he was named Teacher of the Year for Saraland Elementary School and the district.

Founded in 1961, the University of Mobile is a Christ-centered liberal arts and sciences institution offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in more than 75 academic programs.
