The city of Huntsville has approved a $240 million development that will bring more than 500,000 square feet of retail and restaurants to north Huntsville.

The city says the development, to be located at the intersection of State Route 255 and Memorial Parkway, will be “transformational.”

Target and Home Depot were announced as retail anchors of the development that will be known as North Village Town Center. The development also will include a $50 million Huntsville Hospital facility, according to AL.com.

“This is a project that has been years in the making and meets a need for residents in north Huntsville,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “Residents from outside of Huntsville, including southern Tennessee, will also benefit from this development. The development of this retail center is a result of our success in bringing in new jobs, infrastructure investments and several new residential communities to District 1.”

The first phase of construction is expected to begin in spring 2026, with initial store openings in 2027.
