Visitors spent an estimated $2.2 billion in Jefferson County in 2021, a 45% increase over the previous year’s total, according to a study commissioned by the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau. The greater Birmingham area was host to more than 3.6 million overnight visitors in 2021, the report said. – Birmingham Times

 

FAA lifts fines against Anniston airport

The Federal Aviation Administration has lifted $1.5 million in fines against Anniston Regional Airport after it passed a recent inspection. The fines had been imposed after the FAA said the city, which owns the airport, had not made needed repairs. – AL.com

Encompass opens 50-bed hospital in Florida

Jim Cooper Construction Co., based in Birmingham, is building out 59,500 square feet of space for Veho, a California-based shipping company, for a last-mile delivery station in Jacksonville, Florida. Construction cost is estimated at about $1.1 million.  – Jacksonville Daily Record
