Vaccine arrives in Alabama
Just over 40,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Alabama Monday. They will be distributed among 15 hospitals – three sites on Monday and 12 sites Tuesday — that have the ultra-cold storage capabilities necessary for the vaccine. – WBRC 6
Two Alabama biotech companies win regional awards
Huntsville’s Acclinate and Auburn’s SiO2 Materials Science were both winners of the Southeast Life SciencesAdvanSE Life Sciences Awards. Acclinate, a digital health company that helps companies and research organizations increase minority participation in trials and research, was recognized for best initial funding, while SiO2, a materials science company that’s producing vaccine vials under a federal contract, won for best strategic partnership. – Southeast Life Sciences
Chelsea High School opens surgical learning lab
Shelby County’s Chelsea High School has opened a first-of-its-kind surgical learning lab for its students interested in medical careers. The surgical suite learning lab includes an admissions station, sterile processing department, pre-op holding area, operating room and recover room with simulators and other equipment. – Shelby County Reporter
Innovation Portal opens in Mobile
