Unemployment claims decrease slightly
Unemployment claims in Alabama were down slightly for the week ending Oct. 3 – 7,732, compared to 8,805 the previous week. It’s the lowest number of claims since the week of March 21. – Alabama Department of Labor

Terry Saban among new Stillman trustees
Stillman College has three new board of trustees members, including Terry Saban, wife of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban. Katie Boyd Britt, president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama, and James D. Anderson are the other two new members.  – WBRC-6

Huntsville’s MartinFederal launches grants program
MartinFederal Consulting, a Huntsville business that works with the departments of Defense, Energy and Justice, among others, has launched MartinConnects, which will award grants to community nonprofits.
