Construction has begun on The Marshall Birmingham, a 409-bed student housing project near the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The seven-story building will include a fitness center, lounge, outdoor social space and swimming pool. It’s set to begin pre-leasing in 2021. – Multi-Housing News

Progressive Pipe opens new Trinity facility
Progressive Pipe Fabricators celebrated the grand opening of its 82,000-square-foot fabrication facility in Trinity in Morgan County. The facility, under construction since January, will fabricate and deliver more than 20,000 sprinklers a week. – The Moulton Advertiser

Birmingham lands bike-share distribution center
The City of Birmingham has signed deals with two bike and scooter-sharing services, including Gotcha Mobility, which plans to locate its national equipment distribution center to Birmingham. Gotcha and VeoRide will offer bikes, electric scooters and electric bikes to the area. Gotcha already provides that service at Auburn University, the University of Alabama and in Mobile. – WBHM

Tim Cook gives shout-out to Alabama educator
Alabama native and Apple CEO Tim Cook recognized the work of an Alabama educator on Veterans Day. In a tweet to his 12 million followers, Cook highlighted Tiffany Williams, a U.S. Army veteran and principal in Macon County who is using technology, including an iPad, to tell stories. – WSFA-12
