A month-long strike of United Steelworkers at Constellium’s Muscle Shoals plant looks to be over now that a deal has been struck for a new five-year contract. Workers were expected to return to the plant today. – SC Now
More than 40 ABC stores to close temporarily
COVID-19 is forcing the temporary closure of 41 ABC stores in Alabama beginning Saturday. The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board says staffing the state’s 175 stores has been “challenging at best.” The affected stores are expected to reopen in late February or early March. – WRBL 3
Dothan manufactured housing community sold for $4.6 million
Dothan’s Deer Run, a 195-site manufactured housing community, has been bought for $4.6 million by UMH Properties. UMH plans to infill the property, its first acquisition in Alabama, with rental homes. – Multi-Housing News
Birmingham has new director of innovation, economic opportunity
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin appointed Cornell Wesley, a Birmingham native with economic development experience in Oklahoma and Texas, as director of Birmingham’s Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity. Wesley started the job on Monday. – Patch
