Redstone one of six finalists to be U.S. Space Command headquarters
Redstone Army Airfield at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville is one of six finalists to become the headquarters for the U.S. Space Command. The finalists, drawn from contenders in 24 states, also include sites in New Mexico, Nebraska, Florida, Colorado and Texas. Selection of the location for the headquarters should be made in early 2021. – United States Air Force
Fish and Wildlife Foundation will fund $26 million in state projects
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation will award $26 million from its Gulf Environmental Benefit Fund to four projects in Alabama: Bon Secour River Headwaters Restoration, Phase II; Wolf Creek Headwaters Restoration, Phase I; Dauphin Island East End Beach and Dune Restoration; and Dauphin Island Causeway Shoreline and Habitat Restoration Project, Phase II. – Fox 10
Huntsville’s Slyman named Builder of the Year
Todd Slyman, of Placemakers North America, has been named the Home Builders Association of Alabama’s Jerry Kyser Builder of the Year. Slyman, of Huntsville, received the honor at HBAA’s convention in Destin, Florida. – Huntsville Business Journal
AuburnBank breaks ground on new headquarters
AuburnBank broke ground this week on a four-story, 91,000-square-foot building that will put its retail banking and operations in one location. It’s the third headquarters for the 113-year-old bank. The new building is at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Gay Street and is expected to be completed in late 2021. – Auburn Villager
Boone Newspapers buying two Louisiana newspapers
Tuscaloosa-based Boone Newspapers is buying two newspapers in Louisiana from Shearman Co. The papers are the American Press in Lake Charles and Southwest Daily News in Sulphur. Boone owns or manages 91 newspapers, as well as websites, shopping guides and magazines, in 12 states. – Editor and Publisher
