Canadian timberland manager Weyerhaeuser Company has agreed to buy more than 69,000 acres of timberlands in Alabama for about $149 million. The purchase is for land about 100 miles north of Mobile. It’s currently owned by Soterra. – Cision

Carnival will not sail until at least June
Carnival said Wednesday it will extend its COVID-19-caused pause in service, including cruises out of Mobile, through May 31. Visit Mobile says the city is missing the cruise line’s nearly 200,000 passengers and the money they spend at restaurants, for hotel rooms and parking.  – Fox 10 

Record $14 billion spent in state during holidays
Alabamians spent more than $14 billion during November and December 2020, an 11.6% increase over the same period in 2019. That marks the highest holiday growth rate ever recorded in Alabama. Holiday retail sales grew nationally by 8%. – Alabama Retail Association
