New development owners seek Hoover annexation
Developers of an 833-acre development next to Ross Bridge and Deer Valley near Birmingham want the city of Hoover to annex the property. Jefferson County has already given approval for developers of the Everlee development to build 2,800 residential units and 600,000 square feet of commercial space. – Hoover Sun
Alabama cities on U-Haul’s list of ‘growth cities’
Two Alabama cities are on the list of U-Haul’s top 25 growth cities, determined by a calculation of one-way U-Haul trucks entering a city vs. leaving that city in a calendar year. The Auburn-Opelika area ranked 4th on the list, and Huntsville ranks 15th. – U-Haul
Birmingham posts lowest jobless rate among large U.S. metro areas
Birmingham in November posted the lowest jobless rate among U.S. metro areas with more than 1 million in population. Birmingham’s rate was 3.8%, followed by Minnesota’s Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington area with 3.9%. – Staffing Industry
Shoals Hospital has new name
Shoals Hospital in Muscle Shoals is now North Alabama Shoals Hospital. The name is part of a larger rebranding effort to more closely align the hospital with North Alabama Medical Center in Florence. – Becker Hospital Review
