Mobile’s new waterfront attraction has a paddlewheel
You can now cruise Mobile’s scenic waterways on a paddlewheel boat while enjoying dinner and drinks. The Perdido Queen will launch from Cooper Riverside Park in downtown Mobile. The Perdido Queen runs two types of cruises, the Mobile Dinner Cruise and the Mobile Happy Hour Waterfront Cruise. According to the website, during the two and a half hour Dinner Cruise, you can enjoy live entertainment, dancing and a two-entree self-serve buffet, with sides. – WKRG

Governor at inauguration calls for investing in roads, ports, prisons
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey took the oath of office Monday after winning a full-term in office. In her inaugural speech, Ivey called for more investment in state roads, bridges, ports and prisons. Although she did not offer any specifics, a proposed gasoline tax increase is expected to come before state lawmakers in the session that begins March 5. The state gas tax has not been increased since 1992. – AP

Mobile County grants Airbus incentives worth $4 million
The Mobile County Commission has voted to approve $4 million in economic development incentives for the new jetliner assembly line Airbus is building in Mobile. The $4 million will be paid out at a rate of up to $400,000 a year over 10 years, to reimburse Airbus “for capital expenses incurred in developing, constructing, and equipping the A220 Project.” – AL.com

Airlines falling in love with roomier A220
When Delta puts its first new Airbus A220 into commercial service later this month, it will be just one of many more to follow as the next-generation single-aisle, 100-150 seat plane is quickly becoming the darling of the airlines. Airbus currently has orders for 527 of them on its books. Just in the past few days, while Delta signed on for another 15 A220s, bringing its total order to 90. – SFGate

Birmingham’s Dominion Partners is selling its Somerby Senior Living portfolio to Bridge Seniors Housing Fund Manager LLC, an affiliate of Salt Lake City-based Bridge Investment Group. The deal means that Bridge acquires the Somerby Senior Living Co. and the Somerby brand. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. – AL.com 

Beasley Allen on team going for opioid damages in Georgia
The office of Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr filed a lawsuit in Gwinnett County Superior Court on Thursday against opioid manufacturers and distributors for their alleged role in fueling the opioid crisis. The civil action – brought exclusively under Georgia law – seeks damages, injunctive relief and restitution for defendants’ conduct. The Barnes Law Group, Cooper Firm, Franklin Law LLC and Beasley Allen Law Firm are assisting the state’s opioid investigation and litigation. – EMS1

Ford, VW alliance to center on vans, pickups
