Madison top county in defense spending
Madison County received $9.2 billion in defense spending in fiscal year 2019, with Mobile County coming in second at $1.5 billion. The third county on the list is Dale, at $857.2 milliion, followed by Montgomery, Calhoun, Limestone, Talladega, Jefferson, Marshall and Dallas counties. – WHNT 19 

Atlas buys Florida facilities
Birmingham-based Atlas Senior Living has bought two assisted living communities in Florida. Atlas is now managing The Atrium at Boca Raton and Lake Howard Heights, a facility in Winter Haven. Atlas now has five communities in Florida.  – Boca News Now

Austal has new business development head
Austal USA has named Larry Ryder is new vice president of business development and external affairs. Ryder has been with the Mobile shipbuilder since 2014, serving as senior director of business development and customer relations.  – Fox 10

Birmingham developer breaks ground on Florida multifamily community
Birmingham’s Crest Residential recently broke ground on the Primrose, a gated, 288-unit multifamily community in Miramar Beach, Florida. The community is about one mile from the nearest beach, with construction schedules to be completed in the second quarter of 2022.  – Northwest Florida Daily News
