Space & Rocket Center will restore space shuttle model
The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville will use a $500,000 federal grant to help it restore the world’s only full-sized model of a space shuttle, it external fuel tank and rocket boosters. The restoration of the shuttle, on display since 1988, will take several years.  – ABC News

First results from state genomic research group published
The journal Genetics in Medicine has published some of the first results from the state-funded Alabama Genomic Health Initiative, a collaboration between HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. AGHI provides genomic testing, interpretation and counseling free to Alabama residents. – UAB
