Jefferson County consent decree lifted
A consent decree in place in Jefferson County since 1982 has been lifted by a federal judge. The decree, stemming from a 1975 lawsuit, was put into place to prevent discrimination in the county’s hiring practices. The lifting of the decree means the judge believes the county is hiring all races and genders equitably. – WVTM 13

Gladstone Commercial makes $20 million Huntsville purchase
Gladstone Commercial Corp. has bought a 278,000-square-foot industrial facility in Huntsville that is leased to Dynetics. Gladstone, a real estate investment company, is based in Virginia. – Gladstone Commercial 

JC Penney in Enterprise will close
JC Penney plans to close stores in 15 states during 2021, including a store in Enterprise. This comes on the heels of 170 stores closed in 2020. The enterprise closure will be in spring 2021 – JC Penney

Supervisor where illegal winery found arrested
The supervisor of a wastewater treatment plant in Rainsville where authorities say they found an illegal winery has been arrested. The mayor says the winery was being operated out of a corner of the facility.  – USA Today
