Atlanta group building U.S. 280 development near Birmingham
Atlanta’s D&G Development Group is planning a 12,000-square-foot mixed-use development on U.S. 280 near the Alabama 119 intersection near Birmingham. The Cahaba Market development will include Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Dunkin’ and other tenants. It’s expected to open in fall of 2021. – D&G Development

Restaurant spending down nationwide, up in Alabama
Though restaurant spending nationwide is down 1% from where it was in January 2020, it increased 18% in Alabama during the same time period, according to data from TOP Data and Zenreach. Washington and Utah topped the list, seeing 26% and 24% increases in spending, respectively. – The Spoon

Huntsville cupcake franchise is closing
Huntsville’s Gigi’s Cupcakes, the only franchise of the Nashville-based national chain in north Alabama, will close beginning Thursday. No reason was given for the store’s closure. – WAAY 31 

Birmingham apartment complex sells for $19 million
Marcus & Millichap has sold Birmingham’s High Pointe Apartments, a 256-unit property, to a Nashville investor for $19 million. The apartment complex is located off of Valley Avenue in Birmingham and is under renovation.  – Marcus & Millichap
