Alabama to host virtual national workforce event
Gov. Kay Ivey will deliver opening remarks for the 2021 Alabama Interstate Talent Development Convening, a virtual event on April 5. The free event will explore talent development strategies and plans to develop a skilled workforce. Southern Company, others forming EV charging network
Alabama Power parent company Southern Company and five other energy companies will form an electric vehicle charging network, making sure EV drivers have charging stations connecting major highway systems across much of the country.  The Electric Highway Coalition will collaborate on the network to service what is estimated to be 18 million EVs in the U.S. by 2030. – Alabama NewsCenter 

Mobile offers micro-loans for small businesses
The City of Mobile has instituted a micro-loan program to help some businesses – including construction-related companies – that have been impacted by the pandemic. The small loans, intended to help with things such as license renewals, will become grants if certain requirements are met.  – Fox 10 

Publix will anchor new Shops of Scottsboro
A 40,000-square-foot Publix will anchor the 85,000-square-foot Shops of Scottsboro at the corner of highways 72 and 35.  Tidal Wave Auto Spa will also be a tenant, and other national retailers will be announced in the next couple of months. The developer estimates 200 new jobs will be available because of the development.  – WHNT 19
