An annual survey by the Associated General Contractors of America shows contractors are generally optimistic about hiring and business outlook for the coming year. Contractors in the South were the most optimistic in the survey, with Alabama contractors leading the way, according to AGC.  – International Banker

Biden tweets video supporting union efforts in Bessemer
President Joe Biden tweeted out a video this weekend in support of efforts of Alabama workers to unionize, though he didn’t mention Amazon specifically. Workers at Amazon’s facility in Bessemer are voting on whether to unionize under the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union.  – The Washington Post 

Virginia-based incubator picks Birmingham startup
Birmingham’s Frameworq has been chosen by the Virginia-based Lighthouse Labs as part of its 10th cohort. James Kemp and Jay Kemp are co founders of the Frameworq, a software platform for project management.  – Lighthouse Labs

Slim Chickens planning big expansion, including into Alabama
Alabama may see six locations of the Arkansas-based Slim Chickens restaurant by the end of the year, followed by a number of others. The restaurant, which offers chicken tenders, salads, sandwiches, chicken and waffles, wings and 17 house-made sauces, plans to open Tuscaloosa in June, followed by Madison, Birmingham, Pell City, Florence and Auburn. Huntsville, Montgomery, Dothan, Enterprise and Mobile are also on the list. – AL.com
