Several microbreweries snug in the foothills of the Appalachians from Athens to Gadsden offer dozens of beers unique to North Alabama. For beer connoisseurs who want to sip their way across the region and experience flavors custom to the region, check out the North Alabama Craft Beer Trail for some of the top spots in the 16 northernmost counties of the state.
Available on https://www.northalabama.org/trails/craft-beer/, the self-guided tour features eight microbreweries and tasting rooms taking beer connoisseurs to the cities of Athens, Decatur, Huntsville, Madison, Cullman, Guntersville and Gadsden. Each brewery has its own unique story to tell. Pull up a bar stool and talk beer with the brew masters and learn how they used their skills and creativity to create unique flavors. Many got their start as home brewers playing with ingredients and perfecting the taste of their beers with friends and family.
Not only do you experience great tasting beer, but the North Alabama Craft Beer Trail also takes you through some beautiful and scenic landscapes where there is no shortage of great hiking, spectacular waterfalls and natural wonders. And, whether you prefer the charm and simplicity of a small town or the fast pace environment of a large city, the Trail weaves its way through the picturesque region where visitors can experience both.
To participate in the North Alabama Craft Beer Trail, stop by any participating brewery to pick up a free passport. Visit each one and receive a stamp. After completing the passport, submit it to AMLA to win a free prize.
