Elektrik, an online storefront for high-voltage electrical supplies that went through Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator in Birmingham, has raised a $1 million seed round from Album VC. The startup, based in Utah, completed the Techstars program in fall 2020. – Utah Business

Slim Chickens to open 9 locations throughout state
Slim Chickens chicken restaurant has signed a deal with Legends Development LLC to bring nine locations to cities in Alabama, including Huntsville, Auburn, Montgomery and Talladega. Dana Price and Alan Renfroe are the people behind Legends Development. Slim Chickens offers cooked-to-order fresh food, including 17 house-made dipping sauces. – QSR magazine
B.L. Harbert buys Mountain Brook office space
B.L. Harbert International has purchased office space in Mountain Brook’s Office Park for $2.75 million. Harbert bought the 24,000-square-foot office space to support its growth and doesn’t plan to redevelop the property. – Patch
Mackin, CEO who named Regions, dead at 88
James Stanley Mackin Sr., former Regions Bank CEO who selected the name Regions when the bank replaced the First Alabama name in the early 1990s, died Friday at age 88. Mackin, an Auburn University graduate, retired as CEO of Regions in 1998 and retired from the board in 2001. – AL.com
