An acute-care facility in Alabaster with more than 1,000 employees, Shelby Baptist offers comprehensive services, including cardiovascular, orthopedics, neurology, women’s, bariatrics and numerous surgical procedures, as well as affiliated clinics throughout the county. Its emergency department handles more than 40,000 visits each year.

Shelby Baptist offers interventional cardiology, improving its resources with a hybrid operating room with special imaging equipment, so that physicians can execute surgical procedures immediately when standard intervention is insufficient.

The hospital recently earned Primary Stroke Care Certification by The Joint Commission and recognitions for heart and stroke care from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Shelby Baptist offers a full range of maternity services.

The hospital recently added a new camera system that allows families of NICU babies to see their infants in real time, an addition funded by the Baptist Health Foundation.

Shelby Baptist recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. Having opened its doors in 1959, known then as Shelby Memorial Hospital, the facility has transformed throughout the decades from a small facility with only 35 beds, eight physicians and 25 nurses to a cutting-edge hospital with a full range of health care services.
