SportsMED Orthopaedic Specialists PC has pledged $1.3 million to the University of Alabama in Huntsville to name the gymnasium inside Spragins Hall as the SportsMED Arena. The naming rights are for the next 10 years.

“At SportsMED, we believe that world-class care begins with world-class education,” said Kelsey Siniard, SportsMED director of business development. “UAH continues to push the boundaries of research, athletics and academic excellence, and we’re proud to support an organization that’s driving growth and opportunity in North Alabama.”

The company recently gave the university $325,000 towards the pledge. And this new partnership builds on past support the company has provided to the university.

SportsMED orthopedic surgeon Dr. Eric Janssen has been serving as a physician in Huntsville for more than 30 years. “I’ve been honored to care for their student-athletes, faculty and administrators, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to support a university that continues to elevate education, research and athletics right here in our community,” Janssen said.

“We are so indebted to SportsMED and their long history of supporting the UAH Athletic Department,” said Cade Smith, UAH director of athletics. “This gift is extremely impactful for our department.”
