Spirit Airlines will launch service between Birmingham and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, its first foray into Alabama. The daily service to Florida beginning Oct. 10 is non-stop, and there will be one-stop connections to Latin America and the Caribbean. – Bham Now

PARC funding includes skybridge in Huntsville

The Huntsville City Council approved access to funds for the Pinook Creek Pedestrian Access and Redevelopment project, which includes the skybridge pedestrian walkway. The $47.3 million PARC project also includes park space, greenway and more. – Hville Blast

The Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism & Sustainability received $50,000 from the Drax Foundaiton, one of five organizations getting grants from the Louisiana company. The Gulf Coast Center is located in Gulf Shores. – PR Newswire

Georgia investment firm, Birmingham management company buy Spanish Fort retail area

Wicker Park Capital Management, based in Georgia, and Birmingham-based Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors have teamed to buy Spanish Fort’s Eastern Shore Centre. The companies called their new acquisition a “premier retail destination.” – News 5
