SmartBank expands into Mobile market

The bank expanded its Mobile area wealth advisors with the addition of seven employees.

SmartBank has expanded into the Mobile market with wealth advisors Thomas Montz, Amanda Montz and Nathan Novotny. In addition, the firm brought on Tina Moody, Johanne Carroll and Missha Waldrip as senior registered client associates.

“The Montz team takes pride in cultivating client relationships that span generations and developing customized wealth management strategies to help navigate their lives. We are confident this leadership team will drive our plans for continued growth in Alabama,” said Monty Hatcher, executive vice president and director of investment services with SmartBank.

Thomas Montz brings 30 years of financial services experience to the team. Prior to joining SmartBank, he was with BBVA Investment Services. A Southeastern Louisiana University graduate, he will be responsible for assessing client circumstances and providing individualized, strategic investment counseling.

Amanda Montz joins the company with 18 years of financial industry experience. She also was with BBVA Compass Investment Solutions prior to joining SmartBank. She will focus on guiding clients through each financial stage of their life using a goal-based process.

Nathan Novotny is licensed in life, health and annuity insurance. He maintains Series 7 and 66 securities registrations and is a graduate of the University of West Florida.

Tina Moody holds Series 6, 7 and 63 securities registrations. She has been a registered sales assistant for 25 years.

A graduate of Florida A&M University, Johanne Carroll holds Series 6, 7, 63 and 66 securities registrations.

Missha Waldrip has more than 16 years of experience in the financial industry. Waldrip holds health and life securities registrations, as well as Series 6 and 63.

SmartBank entered the Alabama market in 2017 when it acquired Tuscaloosa-based Capstone Bank. Since then, it has grown from nine branches to 14, including its Mobile location, which opened in early December. Thomas Montz, Nathan Novotny, Tina Moody and Johanne Carroll are located at SmartBank’s new Mobile location on Dauphin Street, while Amanda Montz and Missha Waldrip are located in the bank’s Fairhope branch.
