SmartBank buys historic downtown Dothan building

A full-retail branch is planned for the location

SmartBank has purchased Dothan’s Ellison building.

Tennessee-based SmartBank has acquired a historic downtown Dothan building and will move its Dothan branch there.

The new location is the Ellison building at 170 E. Main St. It will be a full-retail branch for SmartBank.

“So many things about SmartBank differentiate us,” said Jeff Williams, SmartBank regional president. “To further set us apart in Dothan, we will be in the only commercial bank located downtown. We wanted to be geographically positioned and convenient to serve all of Houston County, rather than only one side of Dothan.”

Laura Watford, the bank’s regional credit officer, said SmartBank is “so excited to be a part of the revitalization of historic downtown Dothan.”

“As Dothan continues its rapid growth, our new location gives us the opportunity to advance our market presence and continue building relations,” she said.
