Sloss Tech, a three-day conference featuring speakers and a regional startup competition, opens Wednesday, June 24, at venues across downtown Birmingham.
The event brings together more than 1,400 founders, developers, investors and industry leaders through June 26. The conference is presented by Innovate Alabama and hosted by TechBirmingham.
Keynote speakers for the events are Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation; Everette Taylor, CEO of Kickstarter; Talia Cotton, founder and creative director of the design and technology agency Cotton; and Amanda Sabreah, strategic adviser to global brands including Coca-Cola and FIFA.
“We are thrilled to welcome these remarkable leaders to the Sloss Tech stage,” said Deon Gordon, president and CEO of TechBirmingham. “Each brings a unique and compelling perspective on technology, creativity and entrepreneurship that aligns perfectly with our mission of establishing Birmingham as the most innovative and inclusive technology ecosystem in the South.”
In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference includes breakout sessions, networking opportunities and the Sloss.Tech/Ideas Pitch Competition, billed as the region’s largest startup pitch competition. Funded by a grant from the Regions Foundation, the event features 16 startups competing for $135,000 in total prizes.
