Special Aerospace Services, a space and defense engineering, hardware and communications technology solutions platform with operations in Huntsville, has broken ground on a new facility.
The 40,000-square-foot facility, which includes 30,000 square feet of flexible manufacturing space, is at Cummings Research Park.
“This new facility has been a long time coming, and we are really excited to begin building it to help our clients solve some of the toughest problems in the space and defense industries,” said Heather Bulk, CEO of SAS. “Our presence in Huntsville, particularly in Cummings Research Park, positions us perfectly to leverage the proximity to key talent and industry partners.”
The groundbreaking follows SAS’ acquisition of both Willbrook Solutions and Quintron Systems.
Construction is expected to be completed in 14 months, and the new facility will create up to 60 new jobs.
Brasfield & Gorrie is building the facility, which was designed by Fuqua & Partners Architects. Freedom Real Estate & Capital is managing the overall project.
