Reports: PNC tried to buy failed First Republic Bank
The Wall Street Journal reports that PNC Financial Services Group, a Pittsburgh-based bank with a regional hub in Birmingham, tried to buy failed First Republic Bank in an FDIC auction. JPMorgan Chase and Co. eventually bought the bank. – AL.com
