Reid State Technical College has opened its Georgiana site on Meeting Avenue. The site, which was made possible through an Alabama Center for Rural Healthcare Opportunities grant by the Alabama Community College System, is aimed at meeting the urgent demand for qualified nursing professionals in rural communities.

“These opportunities to serve deeper within our communities by working hand in hand with so many partners is a sure way to help students and businesses be most successful, and we’re thankful to our legislators, Chancellor Jimmy Baker and the Alabama Community College System for believing in this project and its ability to make a difference for years to come,” said Coretta Boykin, Reid State president.

The Georgiana site includes multiple classrooms equipped with modern technology and simulation labs in the practical nursing area. In the adult education area, it includes learning spaces designed to support student success.

Georgiana Mayor Franklin Betterton said of the site, “Our future is dependent upon strong educational partners that provide relevant, affordable and accessible educational opportunities for our community. The expansion of Reid State’s Georgiana site allows us to continue to make Butler County a place companies want to invest in.”

Reid State’s main campus is in Evergreen with additional locations in Monroeville and Georgiana.
