Courtney Pittman has been named president of Davis Architects, a Birmingham firm founded in 1912.
She succeeds Neil Davis, who will become board chairman.
“This transition represents both a proud nod to our legacy and a step toward our future,” said Davis, who will continue serving as director of design in addition to board chairman. “Courtney is an outstanding leader whose vision, experience and commitment to our people and clients will continue to move Davis forward.”
Pittman is the first female president of Davis Architects, and Neil Davis’ late mother, Helen Sellers Davis, was Alabama’s first licensed female architect in 1936.
“I am honored to lead Davis into its next chapter, following in the footsteps of both Neil and his mother, Helen, who was a trailblazer for female architects in Alabama,” Pittman said. “Our firm’s history is a testament to enduring excellence, and I’m committed to fostering an inclusive environment that reflects the communities we serve.”
In addition to Pittman’s appointment, Gabrielle “Gabe” Fuller has been named senior vice president, architecture, and Stephanie Pope has been named senior vice president, interior design.
“Architecture has historically been a male-dominated field with less opportunities for women or minorities to advance, but Davis has long recognized that diverse backgrounds and perspectives are essential to drive innovation,” Neil Davis said. “We want to be part of the solution and feel this transition proudly reflects who we are today. I have full confidence in Courtney, Gabe and Stephanie to uphold our values and lead Davis into a more innovative and inclusive future.”
