Jim Williford has been named the new chief executive officer at Palomar Insurance Corp. He succeeds Tony Craft, who will take up a new position as a producer within the company.
Williford has more than 25 years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience. He also holds several certifications including the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter, the Certified Insurance Counselor, the Certified Risk Manager and the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist designations.
“Jim’s extensive experience and visionary leadership will make him the ideal choice to guide Palomar into its next chapter,” said Craft. “I am confident that his dynamic approach will enhance our ability to serve our clients and partners while fostering innovation and growth.”
Craft began his insurance career in 1978 and joined Palomar in 1983. In 2001 he was named CEO and then took on the additional duties of president in 2012.
About his own transition into a producer role, Craft said, “After many rewarding years as CEO, I’m thrilled to channel my energy into what I truly love — building relationships and connecting with clients in my role as a producer.”
Established in 1954, Palomar Insurance provides customized insurance solutions for domestic and international companies. In September, the company opened its latest office in Auburn. Headquartered in Montgomery, it also has offices in Birmingham, Prattville and Troy, as well as in Kennesaw, Georgia, and Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
