Novo Nordisk gives UAB $4 million

Pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk has given the University of Alabama at Birmingham $4 million to expand its Live HealthSmart Alabama program. The gift will allow UAB to offer its program in additional rural areas. — University of Alabama at Birmingham

Hoover approves freestanding ED

The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission approved a request for a freestanding emergency department associated with Grandview Medical Center. The facility will be built on Valleydale Road and will have 12 exam rooms and two full-time doctors. — Bham Now

Applications for Round 4 of the state’s Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy (SEEDS) grant program are now open through Aug. 31. UNA unveils new logo, branding

The University of North Alabama has unveiled a new logo and branding. The new logo, featuring the iconic fountain on the UNA campus, replaces the lion that was on the previous logo. UNA will still be the Lions. — Hville Blast
