Novelis site improvements planned for $5M grant

A $5 million grant from the Alabama Industrial Access Road and Bridge Corporation will go toward improving access roads leading to the Novelis aluminum facility in Bay Minette. The plant, the first fully integrated aluminum mill built in the U.S. in 40 years, is currently under construction.  – Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance

 

Regions gives $400K for new housing

The Regions Foundation is giving the East Lake Initiative a $400,000 grant to help construct more than a dozen new homes in Birmingham’s East Lake area. The foundation is the lead donor for the effort. – Regions

Venerable Huntsville restaurant closed for renovation

Humphrey’s Bar & Grill, a fixture in downtown Huntsville for more than two decades, is closed for remodeling, according to its website. The venue also features live music. The website posting didn’t say when Humphrey’s might reopen.  – AL.com

 

Council OKs Huntsville music festival

The Huntsville City Council unanimously approved an agreement to bring a two-day music festival to the city. The city will partner with C3 Presents, the company behind Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas and Lollapalooza in Chicago, among other festivals. – News 19
