Nippon Steel sent a document to the White House this week, seeking President Joe Biden’s approval of its proposed purchase of U.S. Steel. Biden has opposed the $14.9 billion takeover of the steel giant, which is based in Pennsylvania but has a plant in Fairfield outside of Birmingham. – AL.com
