Wallace Community College-Dothan has named Nicole Dutton head softball coach. Dutton brings nearly two decades of coaching experience to Wallace athletics.
Since 2016, Dutton has served as head softball coach at Dale County High School, where she guided the team to three Alabama High School Athletic Association State Tournament appearances and six regional tournament appearances. In recognition of this success, she was named the 2016 Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 3A State Coach of the Year.
She also served as Dale County High School’s athletic director since 2018, overseeing all of the school’s athletic programs, while teaching physical education and strength and conditioning.
“Nicole is a proven leader with a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Her experience as a successful coach, mentor and athletic administrator, combined with her deep roots in the Wiregrass, make her an outstanding addition to our athletics program,” said Ryan Ihle, WCCD interim athletic director.
A Wiregrass native, Dutton is a graduate of Dothan High School, where she was a varsity softball player and later served as an assistant softball coach. She continued her playing career at Gulf Coast Community College, before transferring to the University of Mobile, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She also holds Alabama certification in physical education (K-12).
