New website provides updates on Mobile airport progress

Upcoming bid information also included

Website launched this week to keep people informed on airport project.

The Mobile Airport Authority has launched a new website — BuildBFM.com — that’s a tool for companies that want to bid on work, a quick source of answers to common questions about the project and an engaging look at a major community project in progress.

The new five-gate terminal and 1,250-space parking garage are slated to open in 2025. At that time, all commercial air traffic will move from the Mobile Regional Airport in west Mobile to the Mobile International Airport on I-10 close to downtown.

“BuildBFM.com reflects our commitment to transparency and community involvement,” said Chris Curry, president of the Mobile Airport Authority. “We are thrilled to provide this platform for residents and travelers to follow the progress at BFM. We look forward to the day when all commercial flights in the city take off from Mobile International Airport.”

A business tool for contractors, the site includes bidding information on a number of upcoming construction projects. Galleries of photos and videos documents progress and the project.

And answers are posted for a variety of frequently-asked questions such as:
