A $1 million gift from Medical Properties Trust and Melinda and Edward K. Aldag Jr. will endow a scholarship for entrepreneurship students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Environmental groups protest Walker County mine
Environmental groups Black Warrior Riverkeeper and the Center for Biological Diversity are saying that Mays Mine No. 5 in Walker County threatens the flattened musk turtle, an endangered species found only on the upper Black Warrior River watershed. Online job ads way up over this time last year
The number of online job ads increased dramatically in May 2021, up 130% from the same time period last year. The five occupations with the most online job ads were registered nurses, retail salespeople, sales representatives, customer service representative and truck drivers.  – Alabama News Network
