The U.S. Navy has awarded a $13.3 million modification to its contract with Austal USA in Mobile for post-delivery support of the new USS Savannah. The contract modification for Littoral Combat Ship 28 was listed in the Department of Defense contract announcement last Friday.
Eighty percent of the work is to be performed in Mobile with the remainder in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. All work under the contract should be completed by the end of 2022.
The Savannah was christened in August; had launched and was preparing for sea trials as of mid October.
Three Austal LCS craft have completed acceptance trials in 2020, most recently the USS Mobile or LCS 26.
