Mexico offers $390 million for Vulcan Materials land

Mexico is offering Birmingham-based Vulcan Materials 6.5 billion pesos, or $390 million, for land it owns in the southeast of the country. In May 2022, Mexican officials closed Vulcan’s facilities at the location, alleging environmental damage that the company denies. Vulcan is demanding more than $1.5 billion from the World Bank arbitration tribunal ICSID. – Reuters

Planning commission approves $40 million Huntsville schools’ plan

The Huntsville Planning Commission has approved plans for a $40 million project that will result in a new Huntsville City Schools central office and career tech center. The facilities will be built at the corner of Memorial Parkway and Max Luther Drive. – AL.com
