Meta, the parent company of Facebook, says construction at its Huntsville Data Center will temporarily stop. The company says it is making changes to the data center’s design and that the expansion will still be constructed.  – WAFF 48

 

PNC closing Alabama branches

Four PNC Bank branches in Alabama will close as part of a consolidation that will close branches in five states. Locations in Birmingham (Second Avenue North), Montgomery (5375 Atlanta Highway), Eight Mile (4565 Saint Stephens Road) and Tuscaloosa (710 Skyland Blvd. E.) will close. – AL.com

Northport to build water park, sportsplex

Northport City Council has approved plans for a new water park, sportsplex and outdoor adventure park. The complex, to be built on McFarland Boulevard in an 11-acre space, could open as early as 2024. – Bama Buzz

 

Birmingham-Southern in danger of closing

Birmingham-Southern College is seeking $30 million in state funding and another $5 million from the City of Birmingham and $2.5 million from Jefferson County to keep operating after May 2023. The private college says the money would cover projected deficits through May 2026.  – Birmingham Times
